Our Story
Okiki Alaso was born from a simple belief: modern African fashion should not have to choose between cultural authenticity and contemporary relevance.
The Origin
The name "Okiki Alaso" means "the fame of cloth" in Yoruba. It speaks to a culture where fabric is not just material — it is currency, conversation, and identity.
Founded between Lagos and London, Okiki Alaso draws from the tension between these two cities — the structured tailoring of Savile Row and the fluid draping of West African dress. Every collection is a dialogue between these traditions.
The Craft
We source deadstock fabrics from textile markets in Lagos and surplus suppliers in Europe. This is not just an environmental choice — it is a creative constraint that produces ideas a custom bolt never would.
Each piece goes through a minimum of three fittings before it reaches production. We question every seam. If something doesn't serve the garment's intention, it goes.
The Philosophy
Every stitch, every seam, every fabric choice serves a purpose. We do not decorate — we design with meaning.
African identity is not a trend to be borrowed. It is a foundation to build from — in proportion, texture, and warmth.
Deadstock fabrics. Small batch runs. No overproduction. Luxury that respects the planet as much as the wearer.
